IKEA is well-known for being a one-stop shop for all your home needs. Now they’re stepping into the home gym world with the DAJLIEN collection. The new collection was announced in a press release on December 8th, 2023 and is set to launch in January 2024. The line will only be available for 6 months, or until supplies last.
What We Know About The DAJLIEN Collection
The DAJLIEN collection will provide training equipment and storage opportunities for those that want to work out at home.
Sarah Fager, Designed at IKEA, says that “DAJLIEN was born from the desire to find smart solutions that address these limitations and help people create a convenient and motivating place for exercise.”
Like the rest of IKEA’s collections, this line was designed to create smart and beautiful products that integrate into daily life. In fact, DAJLIEN is a slang word for “daily”, indicating IKEA’s thought process for the line.
The entire line centers around “soft and soothing shades” that will create a relaxing aesthetic and will be subtle additions to even the smallest homes.
What Equipment Will Be Available?
The full list of equipment has not be published on IKEA.com, and there doesn’t seem like there will be a pre-order option. The collection will launch with 19 items with a price tag between $3.99 and $135, so starting a home gym has never been more affordable.
One of the feature pieces is the DAJLIEN bench, complete with a lid that lifts and provides storage (shown above). The bench can act as a coffee table when not in use and comes with a non-slip mat.
The line will also include a step-up board and an interesting looking set of ring-shaped dumbbells.
Much of the collection is focused on recovery and stress relief. Workout mats, an air purifier, yoga straps, kneepads and a massage ball will be released, alongside cozy post-workout wearables like slippers and ponchos.
There will also be a portable Bluetooth speaker in the line.
This range of equipment across the collection means that IKEA can be a one-stop shop for light-weight, movement-based home gyms.
Our Thoughts on the Collection
It is always interesting when non-gym and non-sport companies foray into the home gym equipment world. The IKEA DAJLIEN collection will likely sell well, but their market won’t be the most hardcore home gym users. The collection seems to be aimed at people that want some workout equipment, but are primarily focused on movement-based workouts or stress-reduction.
IKEA is famous for making high-quality and low cost collections that seamlessly fit into every home. It will be interesting to see what the DAJLIEN collection looks and functions like in real life. Either way, it will likely sell out quickly.
